1. Acceptance of terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and What's That Game ("WTG", "we", "us", "our") — an independent project run by its founding team — governing your access to and use of the What's That Game mobile app and related services (the "App").
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App, or by creating an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use the App. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you may only use the App with the involvement of a parent or guardian, where required by local law.
When you register, you agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information, and to keep that information up to date. You may not impersonate another person or create an account for anyone other than yourself.
3. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials (including any password, or your Google sign-in) and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
You can delete your account at any time from within the App. Deletion follows the process described in our Privacy Policy, including a short recovery window before your data is permanently erased.
Data we collect & third-party services
- Approximate location (country/region): derived from your IP address by our analytics provider (Amplitude), for internal analytics purposes only. Not GPS/precise location, not used for tracking or advertising.

4. User-generated content
The App lets you submit games, descriptions, photos, comments, and other content to a shared community catalogue ("User Content"). You retain ownership of any User Content you submit.
By submitting User Content, you grant WTG a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable licence to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, adapt, and otherwise use that User Content within the App and in connection with operating, promoting, and improving the App, for as long as the content remains on the platform (and, where content is retained anonymously after account deletion, as described in our Privacy Policy).
You confirm that you own or have the necessary rights to any User Content you submit, and that it does not infringe the rights of any third party.
5. Zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content & abusive behaviour
WTG has zero tolerance for objectionable, offensive, illegal, infringing, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise abusive content, and for abusive users.
This applies to every part of the App, including games, descriptions, photos, comments, usernames, and any other content or conduct on the platform.
- Moderation before publication: content submitted to the App (including games, descriptions, and photos) is subject to review and must be approved by our moderation systems and/or admin team before it is made publicly visible.
- In-app reporting: you can report objectionable content or abusive behaviour directly within the App at any time. Reports are reviewed by our team and acted on, typically within 24 hours.
- Enforcement: WTG may, at its sole discretion and without prior notice, remove or reject any content, and suspend or permanently terminate the account of any user who violates this policy or these Terms.
If you encounter content or behaviour that you believe violates this policy, please report it in-app immediately, or contact us using the details in Section 10.
6. Prohibited conduct
In addition to the zero-tolerance policy above, when using the App you must not:
- Submit or share content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights;
- Harass, threaten, bully, or abuse other users;
- Submit, upload, or share illegal content, or use the App for any unlawful purpose;
- Send spam, unsolicited advertising, or engage in other manipulative or deceptive practices;
- Attempt to break, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or otherwise abuse the App, its infrastructure, or its security measures.
7. Intellectual property
Except for User Content, the App and all associated content, features, functionality, branding, logos, and trademarks are owned by What's That Game or its licensors, and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the App or its branding without our prior written permission.
8. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including (to the fullest extent permitted by law) warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any User Content is accurate.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, WTG shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from or related to your use of the App. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version with an updated "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in the App. Continuing to use the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
